Discounts

Create discount codes with use limits, spend bounds, member and package restrictions, and scheduling.

Discount codes let members pay less at checkout by entering a code such as LAUNCH20. You control the value, who can use the code, which packages it applies to, and when it is valid.

Codes work on recurring plans and one-time purchases. Donations do not accept discount codes.

Create a discount

Open the dashboard Discounts page and choose Create discount. A discount has:

  • Code: what members type at checkout, up to 64 letters, numbers, underscores, or dashes. Codes are case-insensitive and unique per community, and cannot be renamed after creation.
  • Value: a percentage from 1 to 100, or a fixed amount in a currency. Fixed amounts only apply to plans priced in the same currency.
  • Duration: how long the discount applies on recurring plans. First payment only, repeating for a number of months, or forever. One-time purchases always apply the discount once.

Everything else is optional:

  • Use limit: the total number of redemptions across all members. Leave it unset for unlimited uses. A checkout in progress holds a slot until it completes or expires, so a limited code can never be oversold.
  • Min spend: the smallest plan price the code applies to, in the plan's currency. A code with a 10.00 minimum only works on purchases of 10.00 or more.
  • Max spend: the largest plan price the code applies to. Useful for limiting a code to lower-priced items.
  • Members: restrict the code to specific members picked from your server's member list. With no members selected, everyone can use it.
  • Packages: restrict the code to specific packages. With nothing selected, the code works on every package in your catalog.
  • Start date: when the code becomes active. Unset means immediately.
  • Expire date: when the code stops working. Unset means it never expires.

What members see

The checkout page shows a Have a discount code? link whenever your community has at least one live code. Entering a valid code updates the total on the spot and shows the reduction line; invalid codes explain why they were rejected (expired, not started yet, below the minimum spend, and so on) without revealing anything about other codes.

On subscriptions the discount follows the duration you chose: a first-payment-only code discounts the first invoice, a repeating code discounts the configured number of months, and a forever code applies to every renewal.

Editing and archiving

Edits apply to future checkouts. Changing the value of a code never affects checkouts already in progress; they keep the discount they were opened with.

Archiving a code stops new redemptions immediately while keeping its redemption history. Checkouts already in progress still complete with their discount.

Tracking usage

The Discounts table shows each code's redemptions against its use limit, its restrictions, and its current state (active, scheduled, expired, used up, or disabled). One-time purchases record the discounted amount the buyer actually paid, so revenue analytics stay accurate.
