Member Messages
Lifecycle messages members receive, and the channels Arcalotl posts to.
Arcalotl sends member-facing messages through the platform bot. These messages keep members informed about access, billing issues, cancellation offers, and annual upgrade offers.
Message types
Members can receive messages for:
- Subscription confirmation
- Payment recovery after a failed renewal
- Payment recovered after a successful retry or card update
- Cancellation reason selection
- Cancellation save offers
- Cancellation confirmation
- Term optimization offers
- Annual switch confirmation
- Access ending after failed recovery
Where messages are sent
Most member messages are sent as DMs. Payment recovery also has a
private-channel fallback on Discord and Fluxer: if the DM fails, Arcalotl can
create a private payment-help channel and send the payment update message
there. Other sensitive Fluxer commands fail closed rather than posting private
details publicly when a DM cannot be opened.
Term optimization does not create a private fallback channel. If its DM cannot be delivered, the offer is marked undeliverable.
Fluxer does not currently support ephemeral bot responses. Sensitive command results are sent by DM; public confirmations contain no billing details.
Exact copy
The exact copy for the major retention flows is documented on the feature pages:
Public channels
Public channels are configured from /arcalotl settings:
| Channel | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Subscribe channel | Persistent plan display; buttons on Discord, command guidance on Fluxer |
| Announcement channel | Public new-subscriber announcements |
Both are documented on Community Channels.
Admin notifications
Operational notifications for admins are separate from member messages. Pick the channel and the events from the dashboard Settings page:
- New subscriber
- Subscriber churned
- Payment failed
- Payment recovered
- Cancel saved
- Term upgrade
- Plan changes
- Billing operations, such as an admin cancel or refund
See Dashboard Settings.
