Community Channels
Display subscription plans and announce new subscribers in dedicated community channels.
Arcalotl can use dedicated community channels for two public subscription surfaces: a plan display channel where members can browse paid roles, and an announcement channel where the server can celebrate new subscribers.
These channels are optional. If you do not configure them, members can still use /subscribe, and subscription activation still works.
Plan display channel
The subscribe channel is a persistent pricing message for your server. Choose a channel from /arcalotl settings, and Arcalotl posts a plan display message there.
The message starts with:
Available Subscriptions
Choose a plan to get started. On Discord, each active tier is shown with:
- Tier name
- Monthly and annual billing options when both are available
- The Discord role attached to the tier, when one is configured
- A Subscribe button that starts checkout
If the server has an active donation path, the message also shows it with Choose your amount pricing and a Donate button.
When plans change, Arcalotl updates the existing subscribe-channel message instead of making members hunt for a new post. If the original message was deleted, Arcalotl posts a fresh one and stores the new message ID.
Subscribe channels also work on connected Stoat and Fluxer servers. Set them
with !arcalotl settings channels subscribe=[channel ID] on Stoat or
/arcalotl settings channels subscribe=[channel ID] on Fluxer. Fluxer renders
the plan list as an embed but does not provide interactive buttons; its message
ends with: Run /subscribe in any channel to browse plans and subscribe.
If your server has more active tiers than Discord's component limit allows in
one message, Arcalotl shows the first set in the channel and tells members how
many more plans are available through /subscribe.
Announcement channel
The announcement channel is a public channel for new subscriber messages. Choose it from /arcalotl settings when you want successful subscriptions to be visible to the community.
When a subscription activates, Arcalotl sends the member's platform display name and plan name:
New Subscriber!
[display name] just subscribed to [plan name]!Announcement delivery is intentionally non-blocking. If the platform rejects the message or the channel is no longer available, Arcalotl logs the failure and keeps the subscription active.
How to configure channels
Run:
/arcalotl settingsOn Discord, open the channel settings, then select:
- Announcement Channel for public subscriber announcements
- Subscribe Channel for the persistent plan display message
On Fluxer, provide the channel IDs with /arcalotl settings channels ....
These are separate from the admin channel. The admin channel is for operational
notifications, while the subscribe and announcement channels are public
member-facing surfaces.
