What's different
LaunchPass is a membership access platform that supports Discord, Slack, and Telegram. Its core model is invite-link gating: members pay on an external LaunchPass page, receive an invite link, and join your server. It's a gate at the front door.
This model works for simple paid communities, but it has limitations. Members subscribe on an external site, not in Discord. The invite-link approach means LaunchPass controls access at the server level, not at the role level. It's harder to offer multiple tiers within the same server. And like most competitors, LaunchPass has no revenue recovery when payments fail and no cancellation intercepts.
Arcalotl takes a different approach. Members are already in your server. They subscribe via slash commands, get assigned specific roles for their tier, and access gated channels. When payments fail, Arcalotl sends DM dunning sequences. When members try to cancel, they get dynamic save offers. The subscription management happens natively where your community already lives.

Why the member's language matters
Three in four online buyers prefer to buy in their own language, and four in ten will not buy from a page in another language at all (CSA Research, 2020). Most checkouts ignore this: Stripe found 74% of European checkouts untranslated in 2022. Arcalotl sets a default language per community and then follows each member. The bot answers in the language their Discord client is set to, the checkout and the receipt use the language their browser is set to, and a Swedish member sees Swish and Klarna where a Dutch member sees iDEAL.
