What's different
Whop is a powerful commerce platform, but it treats Discord as a delivery mechanism, not a sales channel. Members browse a separate storefront, check out on Whop's domain, and then get invited or role-assigned. This creates friction. Every redirect is a drop-off point.
Arcalotl starts plan discovery with a community command, opens a secure checkout page in the browser, and grants the role after payment is confirmed. Once members subscribe, Arcalotl actively works to keep them: recovering failed payments, intercepting cancellations with save offers, and offering engaged monthly subscribers an annual option.
Whop is free to use and takes roughly 5.7% all-in on each sale (a 3% platform fee plus payment processing). Arcalotl charges zero monthly fees: just 2% on successful transactions.

Why the member's language matters
Three in four online buyers prefer to buy in their own language, and four in ten will not buy from a page in another language at all (CSA Research, 2020). Most checkouts ignore this: Stripe found 74% of European checkouts untranslated in 2022. Arcalotl sets a default language per community and then follows each member. The bot answers in the language their Discord client is set to, the checkout and the receipt use the language their browser is set to, and a Swedish member sees Swish and Klarna where a Dutch member sees iDEAL.
Whop's app is localized and its checkout follows the app language, not the member's.

A server earning $500/mo pays $10 to Arcalotl (2%) versus about $28.50 on Whop (~5.7% all-in). Both are free of monthly fees; the difference is the per-transaction rate, and Arcalotl is lower for most servers.
