Which PayBot alternative handles failed payments better?

PayBot keeps the role while Stripe retries the charge, which recovers payments only when the retry succeeds on the same card. Arcalotl also messages the member with a secure link to update the card, keeps the role during a grace period, and retries after the update. That is the difference between passive and active recovery.

Do these alternatives use my own Stripe account?

Can I keep PayBot's storefront and use another bot for retention?

Why people look

PayBot's pitch is simple: no monthly fee, no trial, 3% of each sale, and the money lands in your own Stripe account with no PayBot balance in between. It adds a branded storefront with custom go.paybotapp.com URLs, payment links, and slash commands. When a renewal fails, it keeps the member's role while Stripe retries the charge over a few days.

People look for an alternative for three reasons: 3% adds up at higher revenue, there is no member outreach when a card fails (Stripe's retries hit the same expired card), and there is no offer when someone cancels. If your community is on Fluxer as well as Discord, PayBot does not cover it.

Why the member's language matters

Most checkouts ignore this: Stripe found 74% of European checkouts untranslated in 2022. Arcalotl sets a default language per community and then follows each member.
