What is Root?

Root (rootapp.com) is a community platform that combines text, voice, and video with native integrated apps. Built for gaming guilds, creative collectives, and teams that need more than messaging, Root's tagline is 'Not Just Chat, Built for Action.'

Why it matters

Root addresses a real limitation of Discord: communities that need coordination tools end up duct-taping together bots, spreadsheets, and third-party services. Root solves this with native apps that run inside the platform. A raid planner, a task tracker, tournament brackets: these are not bots calling an external API. They are apps with full GUIs running directly in the Root client.

Backed by $9M in seed funding from Headline Ventures and Konvoy Ventures, Root launched in late 2025 with a team of engineers from Microsoft, Google, Intel, and Boeing. The platform includes a built-in App Store where community admins browse, install, and manage apps. Over 120 developers built 45+ community apps during the beta period alone.

For community builders, Root offers something no other platform does: a programmable community experience with native apps, not just chat with bots bolted on. But like every new platform, the monetization ecosystem is young. Arcalotl is the first subscription management tool to bring native monetization to Root.

How Arcalotl handles this

Arcalotl is the first and only monetization tool built for Root. It integrates natively with Root's command system, role management, and messaging. Subscription flows happen inside Root without redirecting members to external pages.

Every Arcalotl feature works on Root: subscription plans mapped to roles, automated dunning sequences via DMs, cancel save offers with dynamic discounts, term optimization for annual upgrades, and real-time revenue analytics. Combined with Root's native apps, server owners can create premium experiences that go far beyond gated channels.

For Root community builders, Arcalotl makes monetization possible. Gate access to premium apps, charge for exclusive raid planning tools, or offer paid tiers with different levels of app access. One dashboard manages monetization across Root, Discord, Stoat, and Fluxer.
