What is Fluxer?

Fluxer is a free, open-source instant messaging and VoIP platform built in Sweden. It offers servers, channels, roles, DMs, voice and video chat, and a developer-friendly bot API. Fluxer is privacy-first, community-funded, and self-hostable.

Why it matters

Fluxer is a community platform challenging Discord's hold on group chat. Launched in public beta in January 2026, it grew to over 190,000 users within weeks. The trigger: Discord's controversial age-verification announcement pushed communities to find alternatives. The growth showed real demand for a privacy-respecting, open-source option.

For community builders, Fluxer offers everything Discord does (text and voice channels, role-based permissions, bot integrations, DMs) without the tracking, ads, or corporate monetization of user data. The platform is fully open-source under AGPLv3 and can be self-hosted, giving communities complete control over their data and infrastructure.

Fluxer's bot API is intentionally similar to Discord's, making it easier for developers to port existing bots. Forum channels that publish to the open web solve a major Discord pain point: content discoverability. But the ecosystem is young, and monetization tools were missing until Arcalotl became the first subscription platform to support Fluxer natively.

How Arcalotl handles this

Arcalotl is the first and only monetization tool built for Fluxer. It runs as a native Fluxer bot with full support for bot commands, role management, DMs, and embed messages. Fluxer is a first-class platform alongside Discord and Stoat.

Every Arcalotl feature works on Fluxer: subscription plans mapped to roles, automated dunning sequences via DMs, cancel save offers with dynamic discounts, term optimization for annual upgrades, and real-time revenue analytics. If you manage communities across Discord, Stoat, and Fluxer, one Arcalotl dashboard covers all of them.

Fluxer community builders no longer choose between open source and revenue. Fluxer gets the same subscription infrastructure that Discord communities have had for years, with revenue recovery features that most Discord tools still lack.
